About Acts 247.UK
Established to encourage, edify and build up those whom He is drawing into the fold. Back to basics with a focus on Worship, Word and Spirit.
Christians have been meeting together for centuries to worship Jesus, study the bible and do life together. In recent years so many new and different expressions of church have been established at a time in history when technologies have advanced at a pace never seen before. All of this has brought technology once out of reach, within our reach, resulting in some new impressive church facilities. Everything has been impacted, our buildings, our worship styles, our preaching and endless new opportunities for evangelism. Much of this is very good! With all of the new, let’s not forget that many long standing traditional churches and denominations have remained in many ways the same as they have been for many years.
Another result of the above is that many churches have increased in size as the professionalism draws the crowds in week after week, whilst many smaller churches watch on and follow close behind.
Why Acts247.UK?
Over the past couple of years, we have become aware through many conversations, articles and posts online, that there is a growing hunger within the church for something simpler.
We’ve been taken back to Acts, to the beginning, to look once again at what God asked for from His church. As a result, we felt the call to establish something to meet the needs of those who long for something simpler, and to facilitate those things that are more difficult to maintain in a larger setting.
What could be simpler than gatherings with these three central ingredients ‘Worship, Word and Spirit’, and so with all distractions and logistical demands minimised, our Back to Basics Worship Nights are the first step on His pathway ahead of us. Welcome Acts 247 UK 2025.
Why the name Acts 247 UK
Having spent time revisiting the book of Acts in the bible and thinking about God’s intention for His Church, there have been several things that have impacted us. Those key things have been that it’s a 24/7 life as a follower of Jesus, not a Sunday practice, it’s relational and not impersonal, and it must include and cherish the simple practices of those early believers even in a modern context.
Acts 2 records significant events from church history, and this chapter ends in v.47 by telling us that people were being added to the church daily (you can read it HERE).
For us, having ‘Acts’ as part of our name reminds us of the significance of the early church. Chapter 2 verse 47 reminds us of the impact the lives of those early believers had, and the effectiveness of the Gospel of grace. Bring those numbers together and the 24/7 nature of discipleship comes into focus. With all of these factors combined, we’ve chosen to bring our activities under the banner of ‘Acts 247 UK’ starting with our Back to basics Worship Nights!
